Matt Nowlin
Born and raised in Natchitoches, Louisiana, Matt Nowlin is a 2007 graduate of Texas A&M University at College Station, and a 2011 graduate from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Prior to joining Keiser Law Firm, PLC in March of 2018, Matt represented the State of Louisiana as in-house counsel to the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, the single state entity responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing a comprehensive coastal protection and restoration master plan and was the lead state agency in coordinating recovery from the Deepwater Horizon explosion and contamination. As in-house counsel, Matt worked extensively with federal, state, and local agencies, political subdivisions, non-profits, and private companies on resolving a multitude of contractual, environmental, construction, governmental ethics, and disaster relief issues.
Matt moved back to Central Louisiana in 2013, where he has developed a private practice with a focus on local and state administrative and regulatory issues, municipal and governmental liability and defense, police liability, employment law (including Civil Service), property and casualty, automobile and trucking liability, and workers' compensation. Matt is admitted to all state and federal courts in Louisiana, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit.
Matt, his wife Allie (married in 2013), their son Andrew, and their beagle, Lucy, live in the historic Garden District of Alexandria. In addition to the never-ending list of projects associated with restoring 100 year-old homes, Matt is an avid living historian and travels across the country to educate the public about the War Between the States and the soldiers and their families caught on both sides of this period of American history.
